Wow, it is HOT in Virginia Beach!

A tenant in one of the homes I am the property manager for in Great Neck called me at 5:20 p.m yesterday (Saturday), to say that her air conditioning had stopped working.  I stopped by her home and found that the air handler in the attic was working, no condensation issues there, but was blowing warm air.  The outside unit of the heat pump was not working, I checked the breakers then determined we needed to call an expert.

I had an HVAC technician to the property before 10 p.m., less than 5 hours after the tenant reported the problem (on a Saturday night, on the hottest day ever!)

Beach Sand Replenishment Reaches Cape Story By The Sea - Shore Drive Beaches, Virginia Beach

The sand replenishment project has finally reached Cape Story By The Sea.

The planned beach replenishment project by the Army Corps of Engineers and City of Virginia Beach experienced a major setback due to the November 2009 Nor'easter storm.  Tons of existing beach sand was taken during three days of pounding.  This week there has been much activity on the beach as crews haul sand from the dredge spoil site at the south end of Maple Street, to the beach access at Oak Street.

The sand is then being hauled down the beach by several large dump trucks and the spread around with bulldozers and graders.

The city plans on rebuilding the Sandalwood access ramp this Spring.  Hopefully we will be back to business as usual at this wonderful beach.

Shore Drive Area Takes A Beating - November '09 Nor'easter

This has to be the worst storm I have seen flooding wise, since I moved to Virginia Beach in the late 1970's.  A strong Northeaster, remnants of TS Ida, pounded Virginia Beach from November 11th through November 13th, 2009.  Massive tidal flooding occurred in the Lynnhaven River Basin along with endless heavy rain, winds up to 70 mph, and unprecedented Chesapeake Bay wave action.  This combination led to the worst storm in years.
